The Kyrgyz State Medical Institute of Retraining and Advanced Training named after S.B. Daniyarov (KSMIRPiPK named after S.B. Daniyarov) is the leading healthcare organization for postgraduate and continuing professional education aimed at improving the continuous retraining and advanced training of medical, pharmaceutical workers, and other healthcare specialists.
The goal of residency training is to improve theoretical and practical skills and increase their professional level.
The number of budget and contract places for residency training in various medical specialties is determined by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic based on the needs of the republic’s healthcare system and is approved annually by order of the Ministry of Health.
Postgraduate education at the S.B. Daniyarov Kazan State Medical Institute of Postgraduate Education and Continuing Professional Development is based on:
1. Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 11.12.2017 No. 798 “On Amendments to the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Postgraduate Medical Education in the Kyrgyz Republic” dated 31.07.2007 No. 303”.
2. Order of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 27 of 17.01.2018 On the implementation of the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of 11.12.2017 No. 798 “On Amendments to the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Postgraduate Medical Education in the Kyrgyz Republic” of 31.07.2007 No. 303”.
3. License of the Ministry of Defense and the Republic of Korea No. G2018-0002 dated November 26, 2018.
Regulations on the procedure for conducting entrance examinations for residency
Admission to the residency program is competitive. Entrance examinations include a computer-based test and an interview.
The duration of training varies from 2 to 4 years, depending on the medical specialty. For specialties such as family medicine, general dentistry, general hygiene, and epidemiology, the duration of training is 2 years, while for specialized medical specialties, it ranges from 3 to 4 years, depending on the medical specialty. The first year of training is consistent with the curriculum for basic specialties.

Clinical training is conducted at leading central healthcare institutions, as well as at healthcare organizations in Bishkek and the regions accredited by the Ministry of Health as clinical sites for postgraduate training and continuing education of healthcare workers.
