Admissions and postgraduate education in the Kyrgyz Republic are regulated by Resolution No. 444 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated September 4, 2023, “ On Certain Issues of Postgraduate Medical Education in the Kyrgyz Republic.” Residency Regulations .

Terms and forms of training
- Duration of study: Internship – 12 months | Residency – from 1 to 2 years (depending on the chosen profile).
- Forms of preparation:
- Budget (financed by the state, a scholarship is paid);
- Contract (training on a paid basis at the expense of individuals or legal entities);
- Targeted (upon request and at the expense of medical institutions or regional government agencies).
Admission procedure and selection stages
Admission to internship and residency is carried out on a competitive basis based on the results of entrance examinations.
Step 1. Submitting documents
The applicant submits the required package of documents to the Admissions Committee (in person)
Stage 2. Entrance examinations
The entrance competition may include:
- Computer testing in basic and specialized medical disciplines;
- Oral interview with members of the relevant certification committee.
Step 3. Enrollment
In the event of a tie, priority is given to candidates with a higher average diploma grade, as well as those with individual achievements (scientific publications, patents, recommendations).
List of required documents
To participate in the competition you must provide:
- Application addressed to the head of the institution (in the established form);
- Passport (+ copy);
- Diploma of higher medical education with appendix (+ copies);
- Certificate of completion of internship (mandatory only for those entering residency);
- Medical certificate form 086/u;
- Personal record card and autobiography;
- Military ID or registration certificate (for those liable for military service);
- 4 photographs measuring 3×4 cm.
For foreign citizens: Diplomas issued by foreign educational institutions must undergo a mandatory recognition and equivalence procedure (nostrification) with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic before submitting documents.
Obligations to work off (for the budget form)
We would like to draw your attention to the strict requirements of Kyrgyz legislation regarding state distribution:
- Graduates of state-funded education are required to work for at least 2 years under the direction of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic (in medical institutions experiencing a shortage of personnel, primarily in the regions).
- Before the start of training, a tripartite agreement is signed.
- In the event of a unilateral refusal to work without good reason, the young specialist is obligated to fully reimburse the state for the funds spent on his training.
