The Kyrgyz State Medical Institute of Postgraduate Education and Continuing Professional Development (KSMIPR&CE) offers postgraduate training in two-year residency and one-year internship programs in various medical specialties. Training is provided on a budgetary and contractual basis in accordance with the recruitment plan approved by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health for the current year. Admission of residents is limited to ensure the quality of training and their broad access to patients and clinical practice. Clinical training is conducted at leading central healthcare institutions, as well as at healthcare organizations in Bishkek and the regions accredited by the Ministry of Health as clinical sites for postgraduate training and continuing education of healthcare workers.

The duration of training in clinical residency is 2–4 years, depending on the medical specialty.
