At all times, information has been one of the key factors determining the development of medicine.

The library’s activities are carried out in  the following areas:

  • formation and storage of information resources;
  • meeting the library, bibliographic and information needs of library users;
  • automation of library and bibliographic processes, implementation of new information technologies;
  • improving the information culture of users.

Approximately 18,500,000 books are available to the institute’s staff, residents, graduate students, and trainees . The majority of the book collection consists of textbooks, teaching aids, monographs, and scientific and medical literature.
Periodicals are subscribed every six months for a total of over 50,214,85 soms . These include magazines and newspapers from domestic and Russian print media.

The library’s reading room provides Internet access for use by the electronic library collection, which brings together full-text resources that provide library users with information, including: textbooks, teaching aids, manuals, guidelines, clinical protocols, clinical guidelines, author’s abstracts, and monographs.

The library has publicly accessible collections of: dissertations of Doctors of Medical Sciences and Candidates of Medical Sciences; abstracts of candidate and doctoral dissertations; methodological recommendations; collections.

The reading room is equipped with Internet access for using the electronic library.

The Hinari programme , created by WHO in collaboration with leading publishers, provides access to one of the world’s largest collections of biomedical and health literature.

The Cochrane Library is a collection of high-quality independent evidence that informs health decisions.

Research4Life  is a global, non-profit initiative that provides institutions in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with free or subsidized online access to peer-reviewed scientific publications, databases, and other information resources.
